Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is composed of advanced seventh and eighth grade students. Students must prove a high level
of proficiency on their instrument and must be willing to commit to regular rehearsal and
practice time. Membership is determined by audition in the spring semester. It is expected
that a minimum of thirty minutes of practice time occurs each day (average practice time
should be between 30 to 60 minutes). Students will document points earned on their practice
record and then turn it in weekly. Supplemental private is lessons is not required but
highly recommended. Members will have a few extra full band rehearsals throughout the school
year as well as a 45 minute sectional per week. Students in this ensemble are required to
tryout for All-Region band and participate in Solo and Ensemble. Performances will include
pep rallies, two football games, a fall concert, a holiday concert, two
contests in the spring, a spring concert and clinics. It is expected that
all band students, including concert and beginning bands, maintain passing grades in all classes.
